Artist’s notes
Inspired by cormorants drying their wings while perching on posts by the sea. A coarsely grogged clay to give strength for the wings, each feather was added individually. The sculpture was treated with a very thick layer of oxide to give it a dark pewter colour. The basking cormorant was exhibited at the St Barbe gallery, open exhibition 2022 in Lymington.
