I am a ceramic animal sculpture artist based in the New Forest, creating hand-built ceramic sculptures and 3D animal wall art that captures the spirit, movement, and character of wildlife and other animals.
My work draws on the timeless power and beauty found in ancient stone carving traditions. I like to explore how sculptors of the past revealed a living form from the raw material – interpreting the strength, grace and features of animals that bring animal art to life. Imagining how they saw the sculpture in a block of featureless stone and how the finished animal sculpture might have emerged. Group dynamics and behavioral characteristics interest me and my work reflects this.
Each of my ceramic sculptures are rendered in stoneware clay which is then treated with oxides to enhance features and texture providing a warm, earthy tone reminiscent of stone. Some of my pieces have an almost bronze-like appearance. Unique sculptures full of character that blends the figurative with contemporary form.
